Co., after the Whaleman Statue, which was sculpted by Bela Lyon Pratt in 1913, to honor the heroic whalers of New Bedford, Massachusetts. The bronze statue now stands in front of the New Bedford Library, and against a granite background on which sculpted gulls fly above an inscription from Melville's "Moby Dick", "A Dead Whale or a Stove Boat."
